8/6/18: Bautismo y un testimonito

Ya se fue la semana!

This one went by like nothing, but one of the coolest weeks of the mission. First off, we have transfers tomorrow and I'll be staying here in the Bronx with Elder Lammi! Pretty excited for that honestly because we've got some awesome people here we're working with. Also pretty much every companionship in our zone will be receiving someone from the previous New York South mission, which will be sweet!

We had a baptism! Juan Nuñez was baptized and confirmed this weekend and it was such a cool experience. After the baptism we usually teach the restoration to everyone there but this time we switched it up and put a quick video on it and mashed some testimonies from past missionaries and members from the ward with super dope piano in the back. The spirit nailed everyone and they all loved it so it definitely was worth it. Juan had a chance to go bear his testimony at the end and he's not a super out going or loud guy, plus his leg is super jacked up right now. So he got up and bore a quick one and ended it by waving his hand and saying that his leg hurt. Super funny but he's a solid guy. 😂

Thought for the week:
I've been thinking a lot about grace this week, and specifically the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There's a talk by Brad Wilcox called "his grace is sufficient" that I listened too which helped me understand even more about what grace truly signifies. I'll include the link in this email so you can listen if you want to. He basically gives an example of how a girl at BYU once asked him how much grace can make up for us. That is to say, if I do all of my part, then Christ makes up the difference. Brother Wilcox explains why that is false.

"Christ does not make up the difference, Christ makes ALL the difference".

We are saved by his grace! Every single person in the world will be resurrected and return to the presence of God. Now the only thing we have to do is decide in what state we want to be in when we return to Him, and how long we desire to dwell with Him. That leads us into our choices. Daily choices lead to lasting habits. The decisions we make today affect who we are tomorrow and in eternity.

2 Nephi 11:5
" my soul delighteth in his grace, and in his justice, and power, and mercy in the great and eternal plan of deliverance from death."

It is the greatest joy and delight in the world to be able to preach these simple yet profound truths to the people here in New York. Every one of us is entitled to the grace, love, and mercy of our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ! All we have to do is partake of his "outstretched hand". So just do it! 😊

Love you all and hope you have an awesome week!
