4/18/18: Buena semana!
Hola mis amigos!
Another solid week here on the east side of Harlem down! We have an exciting week coming up as well! Two people are going to be baptized this Saturday that we have been teaching so I will be sure to throw in some pictures of them!
So first, just wanted to start off with a quick story that my mom probably shouldn't read 😂 So we went to our members house yesterday who lives like 10 blocks down from us on 110th st on the east side. He was telling us how like 2 days ago he was coming home and this guy runs up by the laundromat on the corner and just starts poppin off shooting at people! He hit some other guy in the leg twice but luckily that was the extent of it. But apparently the news crews and police tried to interview our member so that was pretty legit! And literally that happened in broad daylight like 10 streets down from our apartment. Crazy!
Now back to spiritual stuff sorry 😂 So we had English class this last thursday and at the end we always try to share a quick message of some sort. This time we showed the video, "Shower of Heavenly blessings." By the end of it, one of the people in the class was crying and afterwards asked us about our services on Sunday. It was pretty sweet to see how a simple message helps people recognize and understand the spirit.
These past two weeks have honestly been pretty awesome. I was studying and really thinking about the goals for my mission and for life and found some really good guidance from the Book of Mormon. In Mosiah 4: 11 - 12, it literally described what I want to become on my mission! I won't put it in here because it is super long but you can look it up if you really want to 😂 I also realized how important goal setting is, so if you don't set goals, do it! It helps motivate me to keep myself on track and be able to reach those goals with specific plans. Those who set good goals and plans are the most successful in life!
I just wanted to share a quote from PMG that I found this morning, that talks alot about this whole new Ministering program in the church. It's by Neal a Maxwell and it says, "Being blessed with hope, let us, as disciples, reach out to all who, for whatever reason, have moved away from the hope of the gospel. Let us reach to lift hands which hang hopelessly down." I love that quote and know that as we look to help others and become friends with those in our communities we will feel the Savior's love for every individual.
Have an awesome week everyone, love you all!
