Week 14: Que Pasa!

Dope sunset!

Hey everybody!

This past week has flown by! We've been way busy and just had tons of lessons but there's definitely been some cool stuff happening. One crappy thing though is that the senior couple from our ward we serve in went home today🙃 they were the coolest people ever, the Coleman"s. Elder Coleman was super into NBA and we talked about it all the time and definitely had a few discussions about how he loves the warriors 🤔 but he's super cool and actually got us some stuff from the NBA store as a going away gift, and we got him a Cleveland cavaliers NBA champion hat 😂 super sad to see them go but we should get a new couple pretty soon!

So, we have English classes for random people around the Bronx that want to learn English. We have a bunch of regulars that come every time, and one of them is named Ar____. She's legit the coolest girl ever! She loves us and invited us over for dinner on Friday for the first time ever, and we actually got to teach her the restoration which was so awesome. When we were talking about how they need to pray to know if it's true, the spirit was so strong. I really felt like she felt something and wanted to know if what we were telling her was true. I think that's the biggest thing I tell people out here, that we can tell them 100 times that our church is true, but we are inviting them to take that question upstairs. If they pray about it and really want to know, God is going to bear witness to them through the spirit. Its so cool to be able to tell people that and then share my experiences I've had in my life with feeling the spirit and receiving answers to my questions through prayer. It's so funny cause she actually messaged us later and said she had quit drinking coffee because it had been making her feel super sick lately! She said that she's basically mormon already just from doing that haha.

We were able to set two baptism dates this week too which was super cool! We set one with a 8 year old kid named B____ who is the craziest 8 year old ever haha. The kid tries to act so thug all the time it cracks me up. Then we set one with this guy named Junior, who is like 70 and recently had a stroke. He can't remember a lot of what we tell him, but it's super cool because he always remembers how he feels when we come over and talk to him. He really wants to be baptized and actually wants me to do it so looks like I'll be dunking him!

Yesterday we had Zone Conference and it was way good. We had a lot of training on planning for our investigators and really getting down to what they need right now. We had a bunch of stuff on diligence too and how we need to be diligent in completing the Lord's work. One thing I loved from the conference though was a quote from elder Renlund. "The Holy Ghost cannot bring to remembrance that which has not been learned in the first place." I loved this quote and realized how important it is to first study what we want to learn about and not just sit idly and wait for some crazy miracle. We need to put in effort. We're all saved by God's grace AFTER all we can do! We gotta give it all our during this life!

Well that's about all I got for this week! Love you all! Have a great week and when in doubt, turn to Him! Peace!
Elder Allen
