Week 38:Mucha lluvia!

It has been such a good week here in NY!

I want to started off with an amazing miracle we had last night as we were waiting to enter a members building. We were outside with our zone leaders just street contacting people in the middle of Manhattan, when this teenager walks by and I asked him how he was doing. He looked at me funny and asked me how I was doing and then kept walking. I turned to the other missionaries and told them that midtown Manhattan was not a good place to find people to teach because there are no hispanics. Then, I saw the kid turn around and start walking back toward us. He walked up to me and asked why I asked him how he was doing. I just told him that as missionaries that's exactly what we do, see how people are doing and find out how Jesus can bless their lives and get them through hard times. He expressed to us how he was 17 and had just recently gotten kicked out of boarding school, and that he was really looking for some direction and guidance in his life. We read some of the introduction to the Book of Mormon with him and then Elder Cuevas shared with him a scripture on faith. The spirit just hit us as we sat there, and the kid was tearing up pretty good. It was just awesome to be able to testify of our purpose here as missionaries, because he had seen the Book of Mormon play and had a lot of questions about our lives. He said he would read and pray about the book and we got his number in order to call him about it today. It is so cool how we were outside for 5 minutes and then as soon as I started thinking even a little bit negative, an awesome miracle occurred. God puts us in people's paths for a reason.

We've had some awesome lessons with members recently, and it is so cool to see the excitement in the ward grow as we continue to bring people to church and get the people of the ward involved. We had a really cool lesson with the Mataritta family, and they are so excited to go through the temple and get sealed as a family this month. They want us to come with them and that is so cool.

Me and Noland! We celebrated his birthday with him!

Also, Noland Navarro, our homie that always comes out with us to teach people, put in his mission papers! He also had his 19th birthday yesterday so we stopped by for that. He is the coolest and is going through the temple as soon as he gets his call, and said he wants us to come as much as he wants his family to come which is pretty sweet. This kid is awesome and definitely one of the coolest people I've met out here, for sure going to chill with him after the mission!

Our birthday gift to Noland!

One crazy thing! So we were walking home at the end of the night, and we see this bus come by. 2 seconds later, we hear this massive slam and look back to see this car door swinging back and forth. The city bus legit hit the car door! It was freaking crazy and turned into this massive ordeal with like tons of people running over haha it was wild. Nobody was hurt though, but pretty much 100 percent sure that the bus driver will no longer be driving for the city of New York. That same night we also met some members visiting from LA! They put a video of us on their snapchats and took a go pro video of us outside the projects so that was pretty funny 😂

We had zone conference this week which was awesome. One of my most favorite things that I got from it was about the atonement of Jesus Christ. We talked about how the atonement is the only way that everyone in the world can truly be happy. As missionaries and members of the church, we have the opportunity and responsibility to go out and share this awesome news with the world and our friends and family members. It is so awesome to be out here in New York preaching to the people. I love the work so much!

Have an amazing week, love you all!
