Week 40: HOLA!

Buenos días! It was such a great week, but honestly it went by so fast that I literally don't even remember half of what happened haha. We had a baptism, so I'll start off talking about that!

So on Thursday last week one of our investigators that was supposed to be baptized the week before messaged us and told us that he wanted to be baptized on Monday! His girlfriend came up from Virginia for it, and we had the baptism that night! It was pretty cool to see the difference in this guy from the first lesson we had with him, to now. His testimony has grown so much and his perspective on the gospel and God's love for him has completely flipped a 180. Elder Cuevas got to baptize him which was amazing! Got in the water within his first cycle!

We did tons of service this week. Just cleaning for people and going around doing little things for people we saw in need. One cool thing we did was go downtown with a member from another stake to translate for him in his doctor's appt. The papers took about an hour to fill out and the appt was only like 10 minutes but hey service is service and he really appreciated it!

One last cool thing that happened was our lesson last night with the Matarrita family. They are going to get sealed as a family soon, and we were teaching them the Plan of salvation last night. We had their 8 year old daughter help us teach and she did awesome! Her and her little 6 year old sister drew out the plan for their parents and other sister and the dad was videoing the whole thing. It was super cool to see how happy the parents were to see their children learning and becoming stronger in the gospel.

Okay so one funny story, our ward mission leader is like the funniest dude ever, Hermano Ibarra. He was telling this story about when he was driving as an Uber and this guy kept cutting him off. When they pulled up to a stop light, Ibarra rolled down his window and motioned for the guy to do the same. The way he speaks in English is hilarious because it obviously is not his first language, but he turned to the guy and asked him if he was happy. The guy smiled and said yeah of course thanks for asking! Then hno Ibarra said "To be stupid?!" and then drove off 😂 😂 😂 so now thats our joke between us every time we talk 😂

I found a super cool scripture in 2 Nephi 25: 23 "For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do" That's why we have the Book of Mormon, to persuade us to come unto Christ! It's so cool how the Book of Mormon testifies of His life and atonement. It is so true!

Love you all and have a good week! I'll throw in pictures from our trip last week to downtown
